What it does
Lab and field data together
Scheduled lab runs beside real-user metrics, with 12 months of history so trends and regressions are visible.
Competitor benchmarking
Track the sites you compete with for the same searches and see exactly where you are behind.
AI consultant and alerts
Code-level recommendations for each finding, and anomaly alerts to Slack or email the moment a metric slips.
In detail
How VitalLens works
Field data first
VitalLens grades a page on what real visitors experienced, taken from the Chrome UX Report, and treats Lighthouse lab runs as diagnostics rather than scores. If a page does not have enough real traffic to grade, VitalLens says so instead of substituting a lab number.
Five metrics are tracked on every scan: Largest Contentful Paint, Interaction to Next Paint, Cumulative Layout Shift, First Contentful Paint and Time to First Byte. Each is rated Good, Needs work or Poor against Google's unmodified thresholds, so a Good in VitalLens is a Good in Search Console.
Pulse monitoring
Put a site on a schedule and Pulse re-scans it, compares the result with the last snapshot and emails you only when a metric has actually regressed past its threshold. Movement under half a percent is ignored outright, so the inbox stays quiet until something is worth a look.
History is kept per route, which makes week-over-week trends visible and lets you tie a regression to the deploy that caused it.
Competitor Eye
Pin the domains you are measured against and VitalLens tracks them on the same metrics. The report shows the gap per metric, where you lead, where you lag, and what the other site is doing differently, side by side with your own numbers.
AI Consultant
Every finding comes with a fix you can hand to an engineer: the root cause in one paragraph, the change to make, an effort estimate and an honest note on what the change will and will not buy you. Recommendations are ranked by impact and effort rather than listed as a generic audit checklist.
Reports and exports
Field and lab reports can be shared by link and exported as text or PDF for clients and stakeholders. Account data can be exported, and accounts can be deleted, from the settings page.
